Chinook Curiosity Central is a student-led, non-profit initiative committed to contributing to the Calgary community by empowering youth through support and fostering their curiosity. Founded by Sir Winston Churchill High School IBDP Student Weidong Zhang in 2023, Chinook Curiosity Central is a product of reflection. Students are trained to be academically inclined from a very young age, restricting their pursuit of personal interests.
Chinook Curiosity Central organized its first contest last year at Calgary Central Library with astounding success. This year, we aim to expand this mission even further by expanding the organization to new heights with non-traditional contest styles. These contests are interdisciplinary, with many opportunities to learn and apply. These are contests of curiosity.
Our mission is to transform the conventional academic mindset of Calgarian students through contests and seminars, to name a few. These missions are incentives to push the stagnant wheel of curiosity and keep the youth of Calgary curious and inquisitive. We know that curiosity is a state that engenders creation and progress - so we will keep on going.
